Also featuring Ghostbusters, Power Rangers and many more film and TV characters

Stonham Barns Park – one of Suffolk’s premier leisure, retail and holiday destinations – is to stage a mega new event for all those who are fans of comic books, movies and video games. The Legends Comic Con Weekender will be staged on 5 and 6 August 2023 and appeal to followers of pop-culture of all ages.  Combat2Coffee, a charity offering rehabilitation, veteran outreach and training courses for members of the British forces, will be in attendance to fundraise, with the support of Vaders Raiders and other groups from the UK.

The Legends Comic Con Weekender – hosted by Star Wars fans Jason Buxton and David Chaplin – will see characters from the films and from Ghostbusters, Power Rangers and many more film and TV characters entertaining the attendees with photo poses and personal interactions. The Vader Raiders Costume Group was formed five years ago by husband-and-wife team Jason and Maria Buxton who have perfected the Cosplay look with reproduction clothing and props from the all-action films.

Said Stonham Barns Park Events Manager Fraser Carson, ‘It is going to be a surreal experience seeing these larger-than-life TV and film characters mingling with the public.  The children will not believe what they are seeing as they so closely resemble the actual characters from the various franchises.  Such care and attention go into the organisation of events put on by Vaders Raiders that we know it will be a huge success. Other costumer groups from around the UK will be attending and the phenomenon is so big that the event is attracting interest from visitors – not only around the UK – but others from around the globe!’

A Comic Con is a convention focused on all forms of action entertainment.  There are many staged around the UK and worldwide.  Fans who attend these events often participate in Cosplay or dressing up as fictional characters.  Those staged in major cities worldwide attract writers, artists, actors and directors who are often looking at film trends and the next big movie idea.

Said Jason Buxton of Vaders Raiders, ‘This will be a major event for the region, and we are very much looking forward to it.  We will be channelling some fantasy film vibes – with the focus on bringing TV and games characters to life – plus there will be costume contests, merchandise on sale, photo opportunities and celebrity guests.’

‘The hope is the event will become an annual show and build up the fun of cosplay in the region.’
