Much-loved Ford cars, trucks and muscle cars were on display at Mid-Suffolk Showground
Stonham Barns Park – one of Suffolk’s premier leisure, retail and holiday destinations – has hosted its first Ford Fanatics Show on Sunday 7 September.
Show organiser Shaun Rainford and Jonny Heathcote decided to set up the show for the first time after the Ford Fanatics Club attended the Classic Car Show at Stonham Barns Park last year.
Delighted with their first event, Shaun explains: ‘Ford Fanatics is a dedicated car show for lovers of the Ford marque. We were looking for owners of special vehicles to bring their pride and joy – whether vintage or contemporary – to the show to exhibit together for the first time in Suffolk and there was a stunning turnout of 430 vehicles.’
‘Ford Fanatics would like to thank everyone for making our first ever show one to remember. The Fords were all on point. We had it all from classics to modern and had a lovely range of commercials vehicles. The team at Ford Fanatics want to say a big thank you to everyone who supported us.’
The exhibits ranged from the 1920s to the present day to include the Anglia, Capri, Cortina, Escort, Fiesta, Mustang – the legendary American muscle car. While display cars and drivers entered free, donations were made to the club’s chosen charity Macmillan Cancer Support.
Sham Lord Loxley (Shamsher Singh) – a collector of classic and modified Fords and social media influencer with Auto Anonymous – attended the show to give his ‘Finger of Approval’ trophy to one of the cars on display on the day. He was joined by Sheldon Nichols of TV’s Dream Car Fixers, Lee Stevens of Old Fellas Southend Reunion and Matt Jordon of Retro Rolling on You Tube who came to mix and mingle with the owners and visitors to the show.
There were prizes for Best Club Stand, Best in Show, Stonham Barns Park’s Car of the Show, Best Modified plus there were also club stands, trade stands, auto jumble, a chilli hot wing eating challenge, a show and tell and food and drink stands.
Said Events Manager David Sandpearl, ‘Ford Fanatics Show … it should have been called Ford Fantastic!’
‘It was the perfect day for this brand-new show from the Ford Fanatics Club and friends at Stonham Barns Park. With over 430 exhibitors of every kind of Ford it was an enthusiasts’ dream.’
‘Our thanks go out to everyone for supporting the event, organisers and attendees. It was a brilliant day with a great atmosphere and stunning vehicles. Already booked for next year, it will be even bigger and better.’
