Classic cars which took starring roles in some of the most popular films and TV series of the last 50 years will be appearing at Stonham Barns this Sunday.

The famous vehicles include a De Lorean DMC 12, which made time travel possible in the Back to the Future film series; a 1974 MK 3 Ford Cortina, as featured in TV cop show Life on Mars and a 1973 Buick Century, the same as driven by New York detective Kojak.

They will be part of a display of more than 800 classic cars dating from the 1920s to early 2000s, which is hoped to be available for visitors to the show.

Other attractions include one of the rarest cars in the country, a 1957 AC Aceca sports car; a 1934 SS2 – made by the company that would later become Jaguar; a 1942 Willys Jeep; and a 1988 Trabant, the car from former East Germany, famously made out of plastic.

There are also set to be two Ferraris – a 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS, named after the son of Enzo Ferrari the company’s founder; and a 1985 Ferrari 308, which superseded the Dino.

There will be a parade of cars between 2pm and 3pm and prizes given out to the best vehicles of various vintages and backgrounds.

Gary Newland, the events manager for Stonham Barns, said: “This event is building up to be our biggest classic car show yet with a fantastic array of vehicles.

“There is something for everyone but we are particularly excited to be welcoming the De Lorean and an Mk3 Ford Cortina models made famous by Back to the Future and Life on Mars. Sadly for visitors to the show, however, in contrast to the films and TV show, I’m afraid time travel is not something these vehicles can offer.

“It will be a fantastic event. It’s not just about the cars – we will have auto jumble, a licensed bar and food and entertainment, as well as all the other Stonham Barns attractions, open such as our kids play zone, the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary, The Teapot Pottery and footgolf.”
