The Suffolk Owl Sanctuary opens daily from 10.00 am to late afternoon, seven days a week. Flying demonstrations and/or talks take place daily all year round, providing a delightful place to visit to watch, study or simply enjoy the company of owls and other birds of prey.
Once inside the Sanctuary you will be able to take a leisurely stroll around and observe the beautiful birds close up, visit the Red Squirrels and Ferrets in the woodland walk, stop by at Meerkat Kastle to watch them at feeding time, and if you fancy meeting the 'mob' up close and personal, a Meerkat Encounter is offered, too!
During your tour, pop into the discovery centre to learn some extraordinary facts about owls and other birds of prey and sample some different interactive displays and exhibits which are great fun to try as you read alongside all of our feathered friends.
If the children need to burn some energy, then they can try out the mini-maze and explore the custom-built play area featuring wheelchair-accessible equipment and a "tumble safe" surface.
Then it will be time to take a trip to SOS2, the new extension to the Sanctuary, which is home to some of our bigger birds including Golden Eagles, Tawny Eagles and Ravens. It also houses our Education Centre, Presentation Theatre, Party Room, Activity Desk, Covered Sand Pit and fascinating Observation Beehive. The young ones will also enjoy the Bizzie Bee Play Area, Wildlife Centre and FunFace Wall.
You’re welcome to bring your own picnic on your visit at some of several areas provided throughout the Sanctuary. If you fancy a bit of quiet time, then take a moment to enjoy Sensory Garden.
Make sure you check what time the daily Flying Displays and Meet The Meerkats are for the time of year you are visiting, which varies between the seasons and please note that with the exception of the Woodland Walk during winter, the centre is wheelchair friendly all year.
