The heat continues to be on when it comes to Hot Tubs and Swim Spa sales …

Hot tub sales were expected to flatline during the pandemic, but they increased dramatically as the British public spent time making garden spaces into leisure areas. Swim Spas are now becoming a new ‘normal’ too as people look more seriously at their health and wellbeing.

A visit by Adam Peaty OBE – swimmer and sports personality – to the Hot Tub Village at retail, leisure and holiday venue Stonham Barns Park in Suffolk (on 25 August) demonstrated just how life changing these luxury items can be. Adam – an ambassador for hot tub and swim spa giant Jacuzzi – dropped into the Hot Tub Village, one of East Anglia’s largest Jacuzzi dealerships, to visit its Swim Spa centre and give some lucky local children one to one coaching sessions – and to encourage others to take up the sport for improved physical and mental health.

Said Adam, ‘One of my favourite aspects of the swim spa is how easy it is to go training. I can literally walk out of my back door and in two seconds I am in a training session.  I don’t have to drive to a pool.  The pool is in my garden and that is the best thing.’

‘As a Jacuzzi ambassador, retail partner visits are one of the most enjoyable aspects of my role. It gives me the opportunity to support local swimmers and inspire the next generation with one-to-one lessons.’

‘These products help to play an integral role in my training and health and seeing young swimmers first hand having fun and benefitting from the swim spas is hugely rewarding and reinforces what I do.’

Adam Peaty is the greatest men’s breaststroke swimmer in history having won Olympic gold, six individual world titles and broken the 50m and 100m breaststroke world records on multiple occasions.  Says Tony Dobson, from the award-winning Hot Tub Village, ‘We are so honoured to have hosted a visit by Adam Peaty who is a global name in competitive swimming.  He is the epitome of fitness and wellbeing.’

‘The children will not forget this awesome coaching session and meeting this swimming sensation.’

The children – from the local community and some from as far away as Surrey – participated in a coaching session with Adam and posed questions to him during the visit.  As a young boy Adam was afraid of water until – at the age of four – he went with a friend to swimming lessons and has since built a career within the international sport.

Speaking about the event and ongoing partnership with Adam Peaty, Andy Bewicke, Business Development Director at Jacuzzi in the UK says:

‘With less than a year to go until the Paris 2024 Olympics, Adam continues to use Jacuzzi products to support his training, recovery, and wellbeing, and has been a key partner for Jacuzzi since we collaborated in lockdown to provide him with a swim spa to train in while pools were closed.’

Hot Tub Village sells Hot Tubs and Swim Spas to those who want to improve their home environment and reap the wellbeing benefits of warm water and hydromassage jets. Wellness is the new fitness according to Helen Dobson co-owner of the Hot Tub Village, ‘Hot tubs are known for their social entertainment value, but they also offer health benefits as the warm water and hydromassage jets help to relax muscles and have a calming effect on the nervous system, as well as relieving chronic pain. The pandemic has made us all think more about our physical and mental health and Hot Tubs are part of the route to better wellbeing, particularly in the summer when everyone spends more time in their gardens with their families.’

Hot tubs were invented in the 1960s when Jacuzzi, the world leader in Hot Tubs and Swim Spas, created the first integrated jet whirlpool bath in Northern California, after a family member was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. Continues Helen Dobson, ‘It’s not an insignificant investment but once installed the benefits pay off with year-on-year enjoyment even if energy costs are rising. This does not seem to be dampening demand. Hot Tubs – like dining tables – are one of the few places at home where people interact with each other.  They can provide quality family time, a better feeling of wellbeing, and certainly better sleep’.

Hot Tubs are an enduring leisure purchase lasting from 15-20 years once installed. Typically, a hot tub uses around 6kw of energy a day which equates to the cost of around £2 a day. This cost is only about the same as a family of 4 taking a 10-minute shower a day.

Hot Tubs provide the level of heat, which is said to improve mental health through relaxation, provide for an increased flow of endorphins, increase metabolism, improve circulation strain on the heart and decrease joint pain. Tony adds, ‘The much larger but cooler Swim Spas are for those with greater levels of fitness in mind or looking for a family activity pool. Their hydraulically balanced, powerful jets ensure the correct water pressure for those who want to keep in shape from the comfort of home.  Swim Spas are a less expensive alternative to a swimming pool, much easier to install, require minimal maintenance and can be used all year long.’

‘It’s all about bringing people outside for relaxation and the physiological health benefits that we all need in life’s more stressful times.  Everyone is acutely aware of the need for work/life balance and indulgences like Hot Tubs and Swim Spas make life more fun.’

‘Life is short and so people are now – more than ever – making the most of it.  We are happy to report that many people are still living life for the moment – in terms of luxury expenditure – spending now not putting purchasing decisions off until some point in the future.’

The Hot Tub Village has been recognised for its success as a Jacuzzi UK Spa and Bath distributor winning a number of awards.

Hot Tub prices start from £5,000 but can range up to £20,000 for more premium products while Swim Spas range from around £20,000 to £40,000.
