New interior design space opens in Woodbridge as demand grows for brighter-vibe homes

Hemingstone Frames – a fast-developing interior design business focusing on London-style picture framing and contemporary design – has opened a second outlet located in Woodbridge town centre.

The flagship business – based at Stonham Barns Park retail village – offers a range of picture framing services, gallery and interior design pieces direct to customers from the East of England as demand increases for perfection in residential and business interiors.  It was in 2023 that the expanded store was opened at Stonham Barns Park and business has flourished at the site ever since.

The new store in Woodbridge opened on 3 May. It will give the company an outlet in both a rural shopping village and a town location. It is managed by Lorraine Spence – who lives at Brockford – and will showcase the fun and funky statement pieces, soft furnishings and furniture, and steampunk furniture.

David Patrick – with over 25 years’ experience in framing – has used his skills to develop a range of framed pictures and creative furnishings to adorn any setting or space.  He grew the business by supplying frames for top pieces of art at galleries throughout London and the UK and has most recently been supplying ‘arty’ furniture and furnishings for people who are decorating, refurbishing or upgrading properties though out the region.  Says David from Hemingstone, near Ipswich, ‘The business has simply grown organically.  My customers – who appreciate beautifully framed art – are usually working on entire rooms when they come to buy pictures and mirrors.’

‘I was asked to supply other items of decor to go alongside pieces of art and so my interest in industrial-vibe furniture and interior accessories developed.  I now stock anything that can bring colour, life and vibrancy to a home or business interior supplying everyone from homeowners to restaurants and hotels, not just in the UK but to many overseas customers too.’

The new outlet at Woodbridge will predominantly sell home interior pieces and quirky furniture while the main outlet at Stonham Barns Park will continue to offer framing services as well as interior pieces.  An online shop will augment the business offering.  It will be launched early next year.

With highlight pieces including a set of almost life-sized pelican prints, a fully stocked picture gallery featuring contemporary, classic and bold themes, ornate mirrors, sofas, chairs, cushions, antique pieces, naval ship’s lighting and modern wooden carved jungle animals, the newly expanded business has something for anyone involved in a home or business makeover.

‘The business has grown exponentially in recent years. I have seen a huge interest in picture and mirror framing and a new passion for furniture and accessories which means I need another space to showcase our stock.’

‘Big feature pieces are much sought after and the brighter the colours the better. Anything and everything fun to enhance our homes and gardens.’

‘I am very happy with the way the business is growing and developing. It’s been extremely hard work at times, but it has all been worth it!’

Hemingstone Frames can transform new and old pictures and prints into ‘works of art’ using frames, mouldings, mounts and glass to make beautiful, framed pieces.

Adds Lorraine, ‘The Hemingstone interiors collection is bold and beautiful.  It’s outrageously brave in its statement pieces and that’s where the fun comes in.  Customers can make their homes as individual as they are with the eclectic collection of interior design items on sale.  We always aim to put the frivolity into interior design.’

‘It’s going to be interesting to see what the people of Woodbridge make of this creative new offering.’
